The week opens with Connor McDavid on an 11-game point streak to start the season (8 goals, 25 assists, 33 points), even after the Oilers lost 7-2 at home to the Maple Leafs on Saturday. Leon Draisaitl has scored in six straight games (nine goals). Edmonton (8-2-1) host the Red Wings on Monday night and the Flames on Wednesday, while Toronto (7-4-2, four straight wins) visit Calgary on Monday and Seattle on Wednesday.

The standout game is Bruins at Hurricanes on Tuesday night. After Saturday's games Boston led the Atlantic with 19 points and Carolina the Metropolitan with 20. The reigning champions are 9-2-2 after a 4-0 win in St. Louis, with goalie Pyotr Kochetkov winning his first seven starts, one short of the franchise record for consecutive wins to open a season (Frederik Andersen, 2021-22). Carolina also host Columbus on Thursday. The Mammoth led the Central with 16 points and visit Pittsburgh on Thursday, and the Panthers travel to Winnipeg on Tuesday before hosting the Jets on Friday. Sunday moved the Lakers, Thunder, Timberwolves, Grizzlies and Pistons to 3-0. Luka Dončić scored 52 in the Lakers' 132-123 win at Utah, and Oklahoma City beat the Clippers 108-101, but guard Jalen Williams left on a stretcher with a left leg injury, so his status matters when the Thunder host the Suns on Monday. The 76ers (3-1) lost 106-93 at home to Detroit on Sunday and visit Indiana on Wednesday.

Friday brings two Prime Video games in NBA Cup group play: Knicks at 76ers, a second meeting in 10 days after Philadelphia won the season opener in New York, and Lakers at Warriors, a rematch of the Lakers' 127-105 win on 21 October.
